We left the Sturgis, South Dakota area on August 29th, en route eventually for Florida for the last of the fall, then winter and early spring. We would stop in The Ozarks in Missouri for another motorcycle rally, then on to Iowa, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kansas, Alabama, and Mississippi (those weren't in order - just typed as I tought of them!), before Palm Harbor Florida on October 15th.
We stayed in Jersey City, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan, NYC through June 11, 2025. From there we headed west through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and finally South Dakota, en route to the Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis South Dakota. What a trip! As I am typing these keystrokes we are stll near Sturgis, in Spearfish SD. The RV park we stayted at near Sturgis pretty much closes down after the rally, but we wanted to stay a couple more weeks in the area, so we made resrvations to be in nearby Spearfish, SD for another couple of weeks.
We left Florida on April 23, 2025, with Sturgis, SD and the annual Motorcycye Rally by July 23rd the primary goal (we'll get there a week before the actual rally August 1-10 so we can enjoy some local scenic time before the hordes of peole and bikes begin arriving a few days later). Between April 23 and July 23, we'll make our way up the East US Coast with various stops, but mainly aiming at Washington, DC and New York City before we head west. At this writing on June 7, 2025, we are still in Jersey City, New Jersey, just west of Manhattan island and the main spots one might call "Downtown" New York City. We will leave here on June 11, heading Westward with various stops before we get to Sturgis, SD for the HUGE motorcycle rally that spans August 1-10 this year.
We've been in Florida for two and a half months, and we'll still be here for about two and a half more. We enjoyed 2024 Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years with friends and family, and look forward to turning the corner on this loop and heading back north toward Washington D.C, then further to New York City (for two weeks from late May to early June, 2025) and finally Sturgis, South Dakota (July-August, 2025). It's been 3 months since our last update - Plenty of enjoyments and experiences to share with you, but I didn't take very many relevant pictures or videos this time!
We made it to Albuquerque for the annual Balloon Festival. On the way, we made stops in Moab, Utah for Arches and Canyonlands National Park, and then southern Utah for Bryce and Zion, and then the fabulous Grand Canyon in northern Arizona. It has been Hot!!
Ohmagosh, it's been four months since my last update. We made it back to the Seattle area, spent two months there, did LOTS, then left for our second year on September 1, 2024. We're now in Moab, UT for our "Tour of the Western US National Parks". Well, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce, Zion, and Grand Canyon. Fun!
We spent a week each (plus or minus a day) in Tucson, AZ, Quartzsite, AZ, San Dimas/Anaheim, CA, Merced, CA, Red Bluff, CA, and are now set down in Medford, Oregon for 8 nights. We'll be off to Eugene, Oregon on the 11th of June and expect to land in the Seattle Area for the last few days of June and all of July and August.
We stayed 7 nights in Burnet, TX that included the Solar Eclipse on April 8th, then spent a week and a day in Fort Stockton, TX, another 8 days in Las Cruces, NM, and then were off to Tucson, Arizona for another 8 days.
We stayed a little over two weeks in New Orleans, and then made it further west to Beaumont Texas, about 80 miles East of Houston. We stayed there for another two weeks, and will then be off to Burnet, Texas for the Solar Eclipse on April 8th!
We made it out of Florida entirely. We stayed 5 days near Orlando, but were primarily aimed at the Florida panhandle for most of February. We stayed at Sun Outdoors RV Park at Panama City Beach, Florida through March 2nd and headed further West to New Orleans Lousiana, on March 2nd for the next two weeks.
We stayed nearly all of the rest of January in the Florida Keys. About half of that was at Sunshine Key, about half-way out to Key West, and the other half just a bit further "North" on the Overseas Highway (it's actually East, or toward Miami). We left the Keys on Wednesday, February 1st for a few days back near Orlando, on our way to the panhandle near Pensacola for the rest of February.
We spent about 15 days in and around Venice Florida, then were off to the Florida Keys. We'll spend all of January in the Keys, and then we already have paid reservations to be up in the Florida panhandle near Panama Beach for all of February. That's too far for us to drive in one day, though, so we'll stay five days about half-way, near Orlando.
We spent about 12 days in and around Savannah Georgia, then off to the Orlando area of Florida for 10 days near The Villages. Our stay this time was at Grand Oaks RV Resort and it is a beautiful and well-appointed place. It is now Decembrer 17th and we have arrived near Venice, Florida at a large RV place caled Ramblers Rest. Lots of RVs here, but many many Park Models
also - Small mobile homes, typically single-wide and about 35 feet in length by probably 11 feet in width.
10/29/23 - We spent five days in Virginia Beach Virginia, then moved on to Charlotte South Carolina for seven days. We moved on to St. Matthews, South Carolina to be near Congaree National Park for two days before heading to Charleston, South Carolina for an 8-day stay at James Island County Park. Phenomenal RV park!
10/6/23 - We spent five days around Lincoln, NH and the Kancamaugus highway, then made our way to New Paltz, New York. We stayed near New Paltz for four days and headed off to Luray Virginia, just outside of Shenandoah National Park. We left Luray on 10/29/23 and drove to Virginia Beach, Virginia, for another four-day stay.
We left Madison, Wisconsin 10/1/23 and headed for our first "real" destination, New England and the incredible fall colors. As usual, the goal is to make about 400 miles per leg, and stay about 4 days at each place. Stops included Bowling Green, just south of Toledo Ohio, then Buffalo (Niagara Falls!), and finally Lincoln, New Hampshire, home of the locally famous Kancamaugus Highway.
We left Glendive, Montana on Saturday, 9/23/23 and headed for Barnesville, Minnesota. We would stay there for just three days and be off to Madison Wisconsin for a 4-day stay from 9/26/23 through 9/30/23.
We left Eugene on 9/10/23 and drove to Connell, Washington and stayed for four days. Not much to do in Connell, but at least it was nice weather. We left on the 14th and drove to Butte, Montana for another four day stay. The weather was spectacular for bike riding and getting errands done. We even made it to Karaoke one night -- FUN! Then we headed off to Glendive, Montana for our next 4-day stay. Weather MOSTLY cooperated. Be sure to see the photos and VIDEO I took at Makoshika State Park. Incredible.
Finally! We're on our way. It's been two years in the making, two house sales, and lots of emotional farewell's. We made it to Eugene, and stayed for a week. We visited with some family there and then took off for New England, where we hope to arrive by about the end of the first week of October. The plan is to drive ABOUT 400 miles per leg, and stay for about four days at each stop.
