We watched the Solar Eclipse just outside of Burnet, TX (WOW!!) then were off to Fort Stockton, TX, Las Cruces, NM, and finally Tucson, AZ, each around two weeks. Weather has been GREAT (80's and 90's mostly -- a little warm!), but low humidity has made it really bearable.
Still near Beaumont, TX. This morning shot of the moisture rising from the small lake near our spot is the morning we left, Thursday 4/4/2024. |
Another of the morning sunrise, 4/4/24. |
 One more time. |
Going through Houston on our way to Burnet,TX. |
We arrived at our spot just east of Burnet, TX on Thursday, 4/4/24. I took a short evening ride to scope out our surroundings. Kingsland is just to our south. |
This mist be Friday, 4/5/24. I'm out on a scooter ride and stopped at this winery near our RV spot. Perissos Vineyard and Winery. |

And one more scenic RV. |
This is a summer kids camp just outside of our RV park near Burnet. Camp Longhorn Indian Springs. HUGE, and appears to be a beautiful spot for the kids to enjoy! |
The road into Camp Longhorn is probably around a half mile. It is lined with very entertaining signs! |
Another sign along the road into Camp Longhorn. This one is paired with the next one. |

And the departing sign from Camp Longhorn. Levity to add, of course. |
Another destination near Camp Longhorn was Longhorn Cavern State Park. We decided not to take the tour as they said it was a lot of walking and no pauses for sitting anywhere. Sorry, old legs.... |
The entrance to Longhorn Cavern visitor center. Nice center and lots of snacks and a nice sitting area outside we partook of. |
Waiting for the solar eclipse now o 4/8/2024. Two of the RV park residents had very sophisticated amateur equipment to capture the event. |
Another view of the solar eclipse monitoring equipment of the locals. |
 Solar eclipse is underway! |
We all gathered on a large grass field inside our RV park. |
It is a very exciting time to be watching the sky with the proper eye protection! |
TOTALITY!! It lasted 4 minutes and 24 seconds. I took this picture with my iPhone. |
Just one more of totality. |
The same moon, a couple of days later.... |
And the extra dot is..... Venus? I didn't look it up. Mght have been Jupiter. |
This must be Thursday, 4/11/24. We are back on the road, bound for Fort Stockton TX this time. |
Just taking a shot of our weather station monitor. The gizmo is tied up outside and with this station we get indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, wind direction and velocity, Date and time, and what I believe is very INACCURATE barometer reading! |
Hey, we arrived at Fort Stockton. VERY little to report here! |
This fellow makes for a fairly famous sighting, though. |
The UNHEATED pool was a very attractive area. In spite of the outdoor temperature being well above 90 most of the time we were here, the pool water was cold and NOT pleasant! |
Quite a number of these metal items throughout our RV park outside of Fort Stockton, TX. |
Another of the metal structures at the RV park. |

I took a tour of the Annie Riggs Museum in Fort Stockton. She, and her family members, especially two husbands, were founding members of the town somewhere around the 1850's. |
Just inside the entryway where I paid the $2.50 entry fee. |
Numerous branding irons used at and near the facility a number of years ago. |

On our way to Las Cruces now. This is Friday 4/19/24 and it was GREAT weather all the way there, about 290 miles. |
Ooh... Exit Zero. We must be JUST inside of New Mexico. |
Yep. And look at that blue sky! |
 New Mexico confirmation. |
It is Saturday, 4/20/24, and I am on a scooter ride out northeast of Las Cruces, NM. I'm on my way out to the Organ Mountains and going by the Farm and Ranch Museum connected with New Mexico State University. I didn't go in. |
The mountain views out here are phenomenal. I would stop many, many times as I got closer and closer. See some of the videos I took out here, too. |
There are several residential complexes on the way out to the mountains. Probably 4 or 5 areas I went by, or into. Each around 50 homes, or less. But all of the homes are lovely and large, like this one. |
Closer to the mountains now. |
Just another angle of the Organ Mountains just ouside of Las Cruces, NM. |
Another angle, close to the end of the road. The highway here does not go through the mountains. |
There is a stop and a small visitors center just a mile or so up ahead. The sign here says Please Pay at Fee Station . |
Just outside the visitor center at the end of the highway. |
On my way back now. Looking back for some more mountain views. |
 And again. |

One more vew of some features up closer. |
We had a pretty serious dust storm blow through on Thursday, 4/25/24 and it left ALL of the surroundings more than about 100 yards away totally masked. |
Another view of the blindness from the dust storm. |
And one more of the dust. |
Bailey having fun in the dog run. |
Another ride out to the Organ Mountains. This must be Friday, 4/26/24. |
 Still Friday, 4/26/24. |
Now Saturday, 4/27/24. We are on our way to Tucson, AZ. Here comes another dust storm! |
More of the dust on the highway, 4/27/24 |
We didn't feel any danger from this, it was just interesting. |
This sign, and the next four, are beside the freeway right as we exited the dust storm. |
Another of the dust storm warning signs. You can see, in the background, how close together they are. |

 There we are.... Arizona! |
The mountains near the highway were pretty interesting. We are traveling on Interstate 10. |
Another mountain shot along I-10 through eastern Arizona. |
 And again. |
We are at a rest stop alongside I-10 in "Texas Canyon". Yep, we are in Arizona. The name aparently is left over from long before Arizona and Texas borders were defined. |
Another from the Texas Canyon Rest Stop. |
We have arrived at Tucson Lazydays KOA RV park in Tucson, Arizona. This is another Panorama, and it is of just the dog park. It is huge! |
There are lemon trees near almost every spot in this RV park. We were free to pick as many as we wished, so we did. The lemons were HUGE -- We though they might be grapefruits... But nope, they were lemons. |
